Home Remedy for Under Eye Wrinkles
If you have wrinkles under your eyes, consider this home remedy before you splurge on more expensive products. Some people say it really helps, and nobody I know has ever said it hurt anything!
Smear a dab of honey under each eye and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Then wash it off with tepid water mixed with a little bit of apple cider vinegar. The vinegar acts as a toner.
Try it and let me know if you get positive results! We also have some more suggestions for homemade facials.

From Eva Pasco:
An Acerbic Twist of Lime
“…More than a cocktail for hot flashes and fluctuating libido, Carla
Matteo’s introspective journey along the Second Act of Life propels
UNDERLYING NOTES by Eva Pasco, a bittersweet …”
O-o-o-ps! I must have had one of those postmenopausal power surges by way
of offering you a Tequila Sunrise before worming my way through the apple.
I suspect that many of us on the brink of sixty who may have burned our bras
in the Sixties, protested the war, or perchance altered our minds with
psychedelia even if we only wore plaid…aren’t buying into the Menopausal
Manifesto.
Despite nature twisting us an acerbic dose of limejuice, there are medical
antidotes, healthier life choices, and attitudinal adjustments for hot
flashes, night sweats, incontinence, fluctuating libido, fog brain, a
thickening middle, and flabby arms. Menopause is merely a detour along
life’s arduous road trip– not a sinkhole for martyrdom. I’ll further
venture that even the feistiest among us are not contemplating a midlife
revival by sky diving, kickboxing, parasailing, pole vaulting, or seeking
mysticism in Tibet. Obligations and responsibilities ground most of us in
reality, hindering prospects for escape.
Straddling my own fence in the stage of mindpause to reassess where I fit at
this juncture in life, Carla Matteo stepped into my field of vision with all
of her quirks, inhibitions, anxieties, and fears. The seeds for my
Romance/Women’s Fiction novel, UNDERLYING NOTES were sown, elevating and
exonerating ordinary women and their extraordinary impact. Despite an
acerbic twist of lime rendering life’s journey a bittersweet travail, the
novel confirms that love, passion, and adventure remain an integral part of
a woman’s life at any age.
Strewn with debris from the Sixties and littered with crumbs of callousness,
blame, self-sacrifice, repression, and restlessness, I thought I’d share an
excerpt from Chapter 20 where Carla parlays her fragrance addiction to find
her own niche, while trying to come to terms with the tenets of her life:
The alarm clock was set to go off at four that morning. I tossed and turned
with anxiety all night and dreaded the king’s ransom I’d pay for skimping on
beauty sleep-Rorschach ink blots beneath my eyes. While Joe showered and
shaved, I made up the bed. Then we both sat down to a hearty breakfast of
toast, fruit, and cereal before we parted company. Joe wolfed down a bowl of
corn flakes while I leisurely spooned hot oatmeal. He cautioned me to keep
my wits about me while I got this thing out of my system and to be careful
in the big city. I wished him luck at the casinos after the convention. We
kissed and hugged before he left for T.F. Green airport.
I showered, towel dried, and rubbed China Rose lotion on my skin while damp.
When it came time to put on my face, I blended moisturizer with concealer to
camouflage the indelible gray south of the borders. I took more time than
usual rubbing gel into my hair to lift and flick limp locks into place. As a
grooming finale, I sprayed China Rose fragrance in the air, stepped into the
mist, and for the road, I squirted two pumps of juice onto a cotton ball for
tucking inside the cleavage of my bra. When I finished dressing there was
just enough time for me to round out my morning rituals by logging onto
www.mistednotes.com.
I chose to preview Scent Nazi’s thread, “All you Sixties Chicks: Share a
Patchouli High Moment,” simply because the topic reminded me of Bev and
Frankie. Patchouli transported them to the forefront on sillage wafting
hippies, Bev’s excessive behaviors, and Frankie’s infatuation with the oil
and subsequent curiosity about Angel with its earthy underlying note of
patchouli lurking in the base. I sifted through the first replies before
posting my own.
Texas10Gal: My then boyfriend and I made passionate love inside his old van
where the aromas of patchouli incense and weed swirled around us.
FragileLily: Hitchhiking from Hartford to Woodstock. It was my last great
adventure before I became paralyzed by a car accident.
Slim: A bad trip on LSD scared me straight and screwed my head back on. To
think, I was so anti-establishment back then and lived in a commune for a
while. Today, I’m a successful lawyer for a prominent corporation.
Bluffer: Stoned trying to study for a psych exam in my dorm, which always
reeked of patchouli incense.
Rose Fiend: I was at a Jefferson Airplane concert where a stranger passed me
a joint while Grace Slick sang “White Rabbit.”
.Jefferson Airplane before they evolved into Jefferson Starship, then
Starship, and thus far, Jefferson Starship the Next Generation. I was a
freshman at Rhode Island College, sitting on a bleacher inside Walsh Gym,
when I passed that joint to the guy sitting next to me without taking a hit.
Not one transgression. Before I logged out, I read the post added beneath
mine.
Bluffer: Hey, for your enlightenment, a Jefferson Airplane is a used match
bent to hold a joint smoked too short. Trust me, I know from experience.
* * *
Live and learn.Locking up the house, I was about to test my wings the way
Chump did when Aunt M liberated him from his cage. I felt calm knowing my
two cats dozed on the bed. Vestiges of patchouli incense followed me to my
car. Contrary to what Joe might have thought, I was tripping on an
optimistic high that the day’s venture would amount to more than chasing
rabbits and grant this baby boomer a second act to feed my head.

Term Life Rates For Older People
In my other incarnation as an insurance agent, I always advised clients to hold onto any life insurance they had. Life insurance that was purchased at a younger age was almost always cheaper than any policy purchased at an older age. I could not save them money by replacing their policy, and replacing a policy that agents really needed to justify to their brokerage, life insurance company, and maybe even to the state they were licensed in.
However, life insurance rates are dropping these days, and you may be able to find a better deal on term life insurance for older people. You may also re-evaluate your needs and, if the kids are gone and the mortgage is paid off, find that you do not need the huge policy at 65 that you needed at 40.
Middle age may also be the time in your life when you want to consider swapping a large face value term policy for a permanent life insurance policy. Yes, whole life insurance costs more for obvious reasons, but does not expire after a few years, and also can build up a cash value to be used as an asset. If you are unfamiliar with permanent insurance, look at this page: whole life insurance explained. You can find some whole life policies that can be paid off after 10 or 20 years, and then have the security of knowing coverage will be in force when you really need it!

Health Insurance Age 50 to Age 64
In the insurance industry, health insurance for those who are to young (or not qualified) for Medicare is called Under Age Health Insurance. That probably sounds sort of funny because most people associate underage with “underage drinking” or something like that. But in this case, a 64 year old still gets under age health insurance. So if you have been feeling your miles lately, rest assured that you are still too young for federal health insurance!
But those middle aged people, or baby boomers, are a tough crowd to find individual health insurance for. Premiums will be higher based upon that age band, and as we become middle aged, many of us have developed a few health issues that we need to be aware of. The simplest way to find a plan that provides good coverage within a budget is to use a free health insurance quote system. Now the health insurance will not be free, but you can still find affordable plans if you do not have any major illnesses.
Major illnesses - look into your state high risk pool. A qualified health insurance agent your your state insurance department can help you.

Relax. Have A Cup Of Coffee.
Coffee Is Good For You!
Well, I am glad to read what I already guessed. Coffee will not make you die before you time. It’s a good thing too, because I find that coffee is about the only “bad habit” of my youth that I have not given up, and it just seems to cruel to have to do that. Oh, that and hot showers. I doctor told me my skin would not get so dry if I gave up steamy showers. Ugh. I kept the coffee and hot showers. I mean, really….
The article is on Yahoo Health– No higher death risk from up to 6 cups of coffee a day! Do I drink 6? Well, I probably stop after 3, but I have to admit I add a couple of diet colas later (which may be worse. oy).
Anyway, I hope the rest of the coffee drinkers out there are happy now. I know I am certainly relieved. And you know that wonderful smell of fresh brewed coffee in the morning? Now they are saving it relieves stress! Well, I knew it made me happy.
So coffee is good. But I still have to wonder about those $6 fancy coffee drinks you guys are chugging down on the way to work. C’mon a cup of decent coffee anywhere else is $1.50 and they will give you some cream/milk/skim milk and your sweetener dujour. If you ask, they will even give you some cinamon. Go ahead and ask.

Does Retinol (Vitamin A) Help Reduce Wrinkles?
Vitamin A and Wrinkles
Walk down the aisle at any drug store, and see a dozen wrinkle creams? But do they work? Well scientic studies do back up the claims for Vitamin A (Retinol) application to the skin. Wrinkles and brown spots, associated with aging, do shop up earlier on skin that gets a lot of sun exposure.
Vitamin A And Other Natural Skin Support

Trial Offer
After a study at The University of Michigan Medical School, this was reported:
“Topical retinol improves fine wrinkles associated with natural aging,” the authors conclude. “Significant induction of glycosaminoglycan, which is known to retain substantial water, and increased collagen production are most likely responsible for wrinkle effacement [reduction]. With greater skin matrix synthesis [production of compounds that form new skin], retinol-treated aged skin is more likely to withstand skin injury and ulcer formation along with improved appearance.”
The research is described in the May issue of Archives of Dermatology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. (Arch Dermatol. 2007;143:606-612)

Do you Need Final Expense Insurance?
What is Final Expense?
Final expense insurance is designed to provide cash for that awful and stressful time when a loved one passes away. It is a fact that the average funeral costs at least $8,000 in the US, and costs can run far over that in some areas. Furthermore, the funeral is usually not the whole cost associated with a loved one passing on. Sometimes family needs to travel, miss time at work, settle debts, and even, transport the body. Many of these costs, including the funeral, need to be paid right away. Along with all of the other stress at this time, nobody wants to worry about coming up with tens of thousands of dollars.
Final Expense Insurance For Seniors can be an affordable way to plan for life’s end. Because the amount of coverage is fairly low, compared to other types of life insurance, rates are usually affordable. Besides, since a final expense insurance policy is actually a form of whole life insurance — see whole life insurance explained – the policy builds a cash value that can be borrowed against or cashed in or even, paid up!
If you have considered a final expense policy for yourself, or even for your parents, you may want to compare final expense insurance rates.
If you think your financial planning goes beyond a final expense policy’s coverage of $2,500 to $25,000, you can still find great life insurance coverage over age 50. Life insurane is not just to cover mortgages or young families, but also to transfer estates in a very tax advantaged way. Older insurance applicants should check out Senior Life Insurance with No Medical Exam.

Way Back Machine — Comments From 1955
Was 1955 The Year You Were Born?
If you were born in 1955, entered school that year, or were not quite a twinkle in your daddy’s eye, you should get a kick out of some quotes we found from that year. I cannot quite claim to remember 1955, but maybe some of you can. I actually got these comments in an email, but I though the readers of over50Web.net would enjoy it. So here we go!
Comments From 1955:
‘I’ll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it’s going to be impossible to buy a week’s groceries for $20.00.’
‘Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won’t be long before $2, 000.00 will only buy a used one.’
‘If cigarettes keep going up in price, I’m going to quit. A quarter a pack is
ridiculous.
‘Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?’
‘If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.’
‘When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we’d be better off leaving the car in the garage.’
‘Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as
long as the girls.’
‘I’m afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND , it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.’
‘I read the other day where some scientist thinks it’s possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas .’
‘Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn’t surprise me if someday they’ll be making more than the President.’
‘I never thought I’d see the day all our kitchen appliances would be
electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.’
‘It’s too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.’
‘It won’t be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.’
‘Marriage doesn’t mean a thing any more, those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat.’
‘I’m afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.’
‘Thank goodness I won’t live to see the day when the Government takes half our
income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.’
‘The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will
ever catch on.’
‘There is no sense going to the beach anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.’
‘No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it’s too rich for my blood.’
‘If they think I’ll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.’

I support Hillary Clinton
Who Do You Support?
| OK, I know Hillary Clinton does not appear to be winning at the moment, and I think that is a shame. However, I have been a lifelong Democrat, and am not in the mood to do any other-candidate bashing on a lack of substance(what’s his name?) right now. If you supported Senator Clinton, and are sort of feeling like West Virginia was just torture, or if you cannot understand how anybody would support Hillary, I urge you to visit HillaryClinton.com. You will either get a pick-me-up or an education.
Ummm, well I’ve been a life long Democrat, but I have just picked up on a new movement for Hillary Clinton. Consider Hillary Clinton in Operation Independent. Actually the speculation that Sen. Clinton may run as an independent comes from even more serious sources then MySpace. Well, actually it may come from people of about the same age as MySpace Users, since it was on the Student Operated Press: Hillary Clinton May Run As Independent. If you think this is a rediculous notion, or perhaps wishful thinking, then consider how different this race would be right now if Michigan and Florida would have been normal states this year. I don’t see how the Democratic party could decide to disallow these primaries, and the votes of millions of people, because the state did not follow their schedule. |
