In some ways it can be a lot harder to get back on the dating scene after 50. A lot of us feel silly doing the things we did when we were 25 to attract potential mates. The club scene seems sort of alien to us now. And some of us, it is true, do not feel as confident about our appearance as we did.

Now is the time to approach dating the way we should have in the first place!

Remember that old song, Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places? Well it was pretty popular because many of us spent the 1980′s doing just that! But now we’re older and wiser, and I think we realize that the best matches will probably come from places we already are.

Some of the best dating advice involves getting involved in activities that interest you anyway. You will certainly enjoy them, learn new things, and meet some new friends. If a new friend turns into a love interest, that is certainly a bonus!

• You can turn to websites like Meetup.com to find all sorts of groups that meet in your local area.  This is a great website, and it lists groups for just about anything you can think of from professional activities to people who just like to meet for movies.
• You could also consider taking classes, joining a cooking, book or bike club, or looking for other activities that will probably include a mix of peope of the other gender.
• Get involved in volunteer activities. These is a great way to feel good about doing good, and possibly to make some new friends.
• I know one couple, married today, who found a great second love after meeting at a dance class. They both wanted to learn how to dance, and they got to dance at their own wedding!

Try to remember what you used to enjoy when you were younger. Have you dropped that hobby or activity because you were too busy with your ex or your kids? Maybe now, that you are single, you could allocate a little chunk of your schedule to dive back in. You may feel refreshed. You may be able to pick that spark of youth right back up!
