Top Websites For Retirement Planning

OK, we do not pretend we have scoured the entire Internet for websites to help people plan for retirement needs. Many of our authors also present valuable resources, so we also hope you look at the author list on the front page to get an idea of people we have come to know and cooperate with.

We just hope to present some ideas for resources and information, already published online, that can help you make your own plans. You are also free to suggest other resources in the comments (you must register for free). We will, of course, only approve comments that are relevant to this topic. (Comment Spammers – you know who you are)

We do have to admit that the idea came to us when we found The Over 50 Website (this website) listed on several top Over 50 Website articles! <blushes>

Best Retirement Planning Website List

Retirement Directory - Retirement Sights promotes itself as a directory for those who are planning for enjoying, or coping with retirement. We like the fact that it has some pretty comprehensive categories which include everything from affordable living to travel and recreation.

We listed this resource first because it is the gateway to a lot more hand edited resources.

This directory is still fairly new. If you have a great resource to submit, you can do it for free on the RetirementSights.com website. They do hand approve, but seem to be doing it pretty quickly.

Online Financial Calculators - This site has a variety of financial calculators you can use to figure out a variety of money questions. There are a lot of good resources for figuring out interest rates, payments, mortgage payoffs, debt payoffs, amortization schedules, and more.

Best Medicare Health Plans? – These pages do not try to tell you which senior health plan is the best, but they do describe the basics of various plans in a fairly simple manner to help you figure out which plans would be the best ones for you.  They also provide senior heath quotes so you can find plans in your area.

Seniors Life Solutions - This website discusses senior insurance products, ranging from life settlements to variable life insurance. If you have questions about which products you might need or want, this is one place to start..

Medicare.gov – If you are an American, turn to your own government for lots of resources on senior health issues. I am very pleased to see that our government does use the web to educate and assist seniors.

SocialSecurity.gov – This is another US federal website with everything you need to know about social security!

AARP.org - I guess we need to provide a disclaimer that we are not endorsing any products or services. And of course, we do feel a bit like David giving a shout out to Goliath here. But there is no doubt that the AARP folks have done a good job developing an informative, though a bit – well – AARPish – website. :)

Bankrate.com – This is another hello from David to Goliath. But if you need some financial information or calculations, this is a one-stop-shop. They offer a lot of free resources, though of course, this is a private company.

Also, we must mention that a lot of the free insurance leads this website provides actually come from a Bankrate.com company. However, this particular link was not paid for or encouraged by the company. You can’t be on the web for long without tripping on these guys.

Your Top Retirement Planning Websites?

Again, please feel free to add additional websites and tips in the comments. We will hand approve these, but hope to get to them as fast as possible. We’d love to read your thoughts on the best retirement planning websites. Thanks!
