It does not heal, but helps the bodies natural ability to heal itself work more efficiently. But that seems to be the point of most medicine anyway.
Does Health Insurance Cover Medical Massage?
Your major medical plan could even cover this therapy when practiced by an approved therapist. Before you seek therapy, it is a good idea to make sure how this will be handled ahead of time. It would be a good idea to check with your insurer and your therapist to make sure they will work together. If you have a network plan, like a PPO or HMO, they may have a list of network therapists you can use.
