I never really thought about my skin much when I was younger. Everybody used to tell me I had great skin, but it was just something I had, and not something I did. Now, as I face middle age, I can see that I should have taken better scare of my skin when it was still very soft and supple. The smile and frown lines have turned into deep grooves that no amount of miracle makeup will erase!
So I was thinking about doing something to help me appear a bit younger. The thought of surgery that is not needed to save my life does not appeal to me though. But can a less drastic solution – like microdermabrasian, help me?
I found an article by a younger woman called Microdermabrasion for Beauty that made me consider that treatment. Since the article writer is younger, not even 40, she really did not see a huge benefit from her first few treatments. But maybe she was trying to improve upon perfection, and it could help me more.

- It reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and may also reduce the appearance of light scars, including acne scars. It is also supposed to improve and brighten skin tone, and give a person a more youthful glow.
- It is a “lunch hour” type treatment that does not take much type or require a long recovery period. The process is not invasive like surgery.
- It is considered a good treatment for people who may be sensitive to chemical peals or have allergies.
- The procedure is fairly affordable. I believe it should cost about $50 a session.
Potential Risks of Miicrodermabrasion
When performed by a certified professional, the procedure should not be risky. Unsanitary conditions could expore a person to infection. Some people may feel slight skin irritation that should pass.
You should consult with a qualified doctor if you have health concerns, and your choice of skin care will be individual, but as I struggle with my own vanity while I age, I think that microdermabrasion might be one of my first choices.
