Are you a caregiver for elderly parents?
As part of the sandwhich generation, many of us are required to care for elderly parents. Sometimes we need some help and have to start looking for professional caregivers to help us. Some options are nursing homes, home care, senior day cares, and assisted living facilities. Of course, different levels of service come with different price tags. Sometimes it is very obvious which choice is right for us, but sometimes the decision can be very difficult.
Many adult children of senior parents just do not even know where to start looking for help. Hello, Internet! You can fill out a short elder care survey and find over 50,000 elder care businesses all over the US! Find Elder Care. Some Things to Think About:
- Do you need 24 hour senior care, or just somebody to watch an elderly person while you are at work?
- Would you be comfortable with having your aging parents in an establishment, or would they rather stay at home?
- Does the elderly person have any private long term care insurance? Is there a budget set aside for a senior care facility. If not, don’t panic yet. Many nursing care and elder care facilities can help you apply for aid, and they are very good at it!
