According to the Senior Journal, the top concerns for baby boomers are logevity, finance, and health care. I think finance and health care probably concern most US adults, and I guess as we age, we do start thinking more about mortality. I doubt that most 25 year olds are that concerned about longevity, for instance.
We Will Be A Problem For Our Children
Actually the article goes on to say that WE will be a big issue for the US. As we baby boomers start to age, we will become a huge aging population. As a population, we are expected to live longer, but as we age we will also need more help from our kids. We are going to be a problem for our children! And we need to plan to minimize that problem. So, if for nobody else but your own family, please try to put away some money for retirement. A little cash can help in so many ways to relieve stress. Oh, and you probably don’t want to be too mean to your kids now. After all, you may rely on them to drive you to the mall when your eyes start to go.
Beyond that……
A little prevention is worth a pound of cure! Anything that you can do now to preserve your health will really pay off in 20 years! That nagging smoker’s cough at 50 turns into a nightmare at 70. The few extra pounds now turns into bad knees, diabetes, and many other problems later on.
So let’s all get those savings accounts and IRAs going, and then jog home from the bank!
