Over 50 Learnin’ — It’s easier Online than It Ever Was!

I really considered continuing my education. I earned a bachelors degree about 30 years ago, but went through some midlife changes and wanted to change gears. A decade ago this would have been about impossible because I also had to concern myself with educating my own kids and also keeping food on the table!
However online education programs have made a college education much more possible, and this also includes going back for an advanced degree! You can begin your college education on the net, but you can also earn your bachelor’s, master’s, or even doctorate degree with an online learning course.
I think this is as amazing opportunity for those of us who do not believe we have time to go back to school. Monster.com is famous as an onine career site, and I believe it is very natural for them to branch out as a source for online education. After all, those of us who want midlife career changes or career improvements, may need to spend a little time refreshing or rebuilding our skills.
Remember my post about over 50 job change? I selected jobs that may not require additional education but that may not be what you want, or you may not have had a chance to earn that degree yet! It is also interesting that many people do not continue their education in order to get a job, but just because they never had a chance to finish their degree and it always was one thing they wanted to do.
And of course, if you are concerned about paying for a traditional 4 year degree for your kids, this may be a way to get some core courses out of the way while they are living at home and working. It’s a thought.

How great all the resources available today. They are out there, just have to go for it. Why not further your education later in life. With online classes it is so easy to do, in your own home, on your time, how convenient. Midlife career changes are rewarding. Maybe it is time for a change. Become an entrepanuer.
I have been visiting this site and decided that I can continue to learn a lot and hopefully can contribute a lot to the dialog. But first, I want to be up front about my intentions. I am associated as a technical liaison with a new web site called the http://www.Over60Exchange.com. This web site was originally created to cater to the needs of “seniors over the age of 60,” and is now being expanded to include “Boomers, Seniors, and those who follow.”
We recognize that many individuals who reach the age of 60 are not physically, mentally, or financially prepared to enjoy the so-called “Golden Years.” In order to meet the challenges we face in these days of great uncertainty, many Boomers and Seniors need to re-examine how they approach and solve problems. Over60Exchange is developing guidelines to help Boomers and Seniors evaluate and evolve their current “mind-sets.” Those who are willing to engage in critical assessments of current mind-sets can observe and/or participate in online forums focused on “personal reinvention.”
I invite you to check us out at http://www.Over60Exchange.com. And remember, we are evolving this web site. You can watch the progress and offer suggestions. Then, when we are ready, you can participate in “Personal Reinvention.”
I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
